I did have to get a half gallon of milk, though, so this afternoon Emma and I headed out to the tiny grocery about eight miles from camp. I decided I’d take a little afternoon drive to the Henry’s Lake Reservoir Dam first. That’s where I got to see the Western Grebe for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I wanted to have another look, and hoped the birds were still near the dam.
I bet these parents are really kept busy keeping their offspring fed. Soon, Dad was off fishing again.
Of course, I don’t know for sure which adult was the female, or which one was the male. I’m just assuming the male was “bringing home the bacon!” This little scenario took place quite a distance from where I was standing, but it made for an interesting afternoon to peek into the lives of these Western grebes. I may return in the early morning to see if they’ll come in a little closer to shore. The lake is quite busy on a Saturday afternoon.
Thanks for stopping by….talk to you later, Judy
